amazing events, fantastic culture projects, and good times
This is a fun four week course designed to introduce Kizomba to people that are new to dance as well as those with more experience but new to Kizomba. Each week we'll look at different basic moves in the dance, as well as the different roles that the leader and follower take within this couple dance.
Kizomba is based on Angolan Semba, with heavy influences from other Portuguese language countries, leading to a slower more romantic dance. It was for a time known as African Tango, and the similarities are in the fact that it is a couple dance, where you dance very much as a single entity, where the connection between the couple is important. Although a couples dance, you don't need to come with a partner, as we'll do our best to ensure that numbers are even.
In the classes leaders and followers rotate, as this gives everyone the chance to dance with everyone else. But if you would rather just dance with your partner, please tell the instructor before the class.
Each week we'll go back over what was learnt the week before and then introduce a new move, so if you miss a lesson, you'll always have a chance to catch up.
Each week the lessons follow the same format, where the emphasis is on fun and loving dancing.
Classes cost £6 per week (£24.00 for the four lessons) when booked as a course, or £7 if you pay for them on a weekly basis.
